Feedback of Le Rendez-vous de Bordeaux
Tuesday 28 June 2016

Social movements did not impede our second Rendez-Vous of the year ! The team of LIKE was happy to welcome numerous participants at Rocher de Palmer, Cénon, on 9 and 10, June, featuring round tables, inspiring case studies and, from time to time, the sun…

Artistic and cultural education was the topic of our Rendez-vous ; more particularly, debates focused on its capacity to create dialogue and enrich diversity in Europe. Panelists were very European : diverse and varied, but all dedicated to the same causa and reflections. We want to thank MP Sandrine Doucet, François Poutheir (director of iddac33), Caroline Sharp (research director at National Foundation for Educational Research, UK), Senator Françoise Cartron, Professor Alain Jeannel, Susanne Prahl (Kid's Fest director, Bosnia-Herzegovina), Alexandra Georgopoulo (Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, Greece), Henri Simons (director of Atomium and ADAM Museum, Belgium), Jean Pierre Heintz (general secretary of Centre Intermondes), Odile Grosset-Grange (comedian and director) and Michael Wimmer (EDUCULT director, Austria) for participating and animating our debats. Many questions were asked such as :

How can we increase the impact of artistic and cultural education ? What are the means for increased territorial cooperation, and how can we build optimal tools for assessment ? How can we represent and teach cultural diversity via artistic education ? What knowledge/competences can we draw from artistic and cultural education ?

The team of LIKE wants to thank these who made this Rendez-vous possible : the team of Rocher de Palmer and director Patrick Duval ; Region Aquitaine Limousin Poitou-Charentes and our friend Frédéric Vilcocq, counsellor for culture to Alain Rousset, President of the Region ; and many others ! We also want to thank those who opened the doors of their structure and offered to present their projects to our members and participants : the team of Médias-Cité et manager Gérald Elbaze ; the team of CAPC Contemporary Art Museum of Bordeaux ; the team of Festival Chahuts ; the team of FRAC Aquitaine. Social movements did unfortunately impede the last visit on the programme : thank you anyway Anne Peltriaux and Christelle Seguin, from Arts au Mur – Artothèque of Pessac… We will be back for sure ! Indeed, the region of Bordeaux is full of high-potential innovative initiatives that we touched with the finger while immerged on the territory. Our Rendez-vous de Bordeaux proved it : there is a strong synergy of wills to make artistic and cultural education a real tool for a better living-together.

This event was the opportunity for the team of LIKE to renew its energy on the field ; it is now time for us to work on our next meeting. Stay tuned : our network's General Assembly will be held in Donostia/San Sebastian, European Capital of Culture 2016, from 10 to 13 of October. This Rencontre will be a privileged moment for officialising all the different projects Board members debated during their meeting in Bordeaux : a European Award, developping the network, a working plan for 2017… Many projects that will pace LIKE's summer !
